Blackpool Zoo

Sightseeing attraction | Blackpool | England | United Kingdom

Blackpool Zoo is one of the most well-known attractions in Blackpool, England, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a variety of animals from around the world. Situated in a spacious, green parkland, the zoo has become a key destination for families and animal lovers since its opening in 1972. With a wide variety of animals and special exhibitions, the zoo attracts numerous visitors annually who want to observe the animals and learn more about conservation.

The zoo is home to over 1,000 animals from more than 100 different species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects. Popular animals include the impressive elephants, majestic lions, playful monkeys, and exotic birds. Particularly noteworthy is the diversity of endangered species housed at Blackpool Zoo. The zoo is actively involved in protecting and conserving endangered animals, collaborating with various conservation organizations to raise awareness about species conservation.

One of the most remarkable exhibitions is the "Gibbon Forest," where visitors can observe gibbons in a naturalistic environment. This presentation not only showcases the life of gibbons but also provides valuable information about their habitat and the conservation of these unique animals. Other special exhibitions at the zoo include the "Elephant and Rhino Habitat," offering a generous and species-appropriate home for these majestic animals, and the "Penguin Cove," where visitors can experience Humboldt penguins in a specially designed water enclosure.

Blackpool Zoo is not just a place for observation but also a center for education and enlightenment. Various interactive programs and educational activities are offered for children and adults to promote understanding of animals and conservation. These programs include animal feedings and special shows where visitors can learn more about the animals' behaviors.

The zoo also focuses on providing a species-appropriate environment for its animals. The enclosures and exhibitions are designed to closely resemble the animals' natural habitats, providing them with ample space to move and thrive. This contributes to a better quality of life for the animals and offers visitors the opportunity to see them in an environment that reflects their natural behavior.

In addition to the animals and exhibitions, the zoo offers a range of leisure activities, including playgrounds for children, a café for visitors, and a souvenir shop. The zoo is an ideal destination for a family outing, as it offers both entertainment and education while also raising awareness about the protection of animals and their habitats.

Overall, Blackpool Zoo is a lively and exciting place that not only provides a home for many fascinating animals but also plays an important role in conservation and education. It is a popular destination for visitors who want to learn more about the animal kingdom and a wonderful opportunity to spend the day amidst nature and animal observations.

Beautiful park, well kept animals, knowledgeable and approachable staff. Gorilla house, and parrot enclosures were closed, which was a shame, but overall great day out. Highly recommend the animal experiences, lifetime, core memory made!

Amazing day one. Particularly loved seeing the elephants and all the different types of birds, but loved everything else as well. Not gonna lie, personally I found the food in the cafeteria to be really bad but we didn't go to the zoo to eat so can't fault it. I need a family unlimited pass because we'll be back often

I virtually saw all the animals, including the snake, but could not get a view of the elephants. Friendly staffs, intelligent sea lions, and a massive roaring of tigers were like a v8 turbo double exhaust engine. Not forgetting the dinosaurs. It is a beautiful sight to behold nature in it reality. Thanks blackpool

Loved Blackpool zoo. We have never visited before, we had a great day out. Plenty to see and do. Animals were well looked after, had plenty of room to roam and looked content.

Wonderful Zoo and worth every penny and I really feel the fee is a donation to the feeding and care of all the beautiful animals so really felt good about the whole experience

Zoo itself is great - perfect size for young-ish children and a great variety of animals all clearly kept in decent conditions. Able to see lots of stuff up close, informative and regular talks from staff. Entry seems expensive but is great value for what you see inside. You'll spend a comfortable three hours here seeing everything. Reason for knocking two whole stars off what would have been a five star review is that the food is so awful, so terrible, and I want to warn you that what other people have written about this is correct and that if anything it's so much worse than they've said. Possibly the worst burger I've had in my life - and this includes burgers on cross-channel ferries, from vans on the side of A-roads and at non-league football grounds - no options other than very basic fast food (we went in the off-season when all other outlets were shut) and the prices were extortionate. No-one was forcing me to eat there and it's my own fault for thinking "how bad can it be" (the answer being "*that* bad). But consider yourself warned.

Zoo's in England and none have been as cool as Blackpool Zoo to be honest. It does cost like ~£25 to enter for an adult, I don't remember the exact price but it is definitely worth it. The pictures speak for themselves. Zoo's in England and none have been as cool as Blackpool Zoo to be honest. Visited with the family during half term, only complaint was that the monkeys really looked like they knew I’d used Clubcard vouchers to cover the bulk of the cost, it really showed on their little faces as if to say ‘you aren’t getting the full monkey experience today lad, not until you cough up the rest of the entry - you pay £5.99 for monkeys, you get £5.99 worth of monkey’ - no ‘oooh oooh ahh ahh’, just a half hearted ‘oooh’. But to be fair to the little fellas I thought ‘fair play monkeys, salt of the earth you lads are’. In short would wholeheartedly recommend a trip to this Zoological experience.

My daughter loves the zoo but paying the same price for half of the activities is ridiculous. Half of the enclosures were out of order, petting zoo/farmyard was half empty and no staff on hand to help visitors. The cafe/restursnt only serves burgers and chicken nuggets, all of which is served lukewarm at best and when busy the staff become very pushy.
